The Importance of Gun Retention

Gun Retention is a 2 hour class on the live range in which we learn how to access one’s gun if we are genuinely ambushed and retain our gun if someone tries to take it away from us.

As Professor Ken Haslam states, “The criminal will attack you at the best time for him and the worst time for you.” Consequently, one will not always have their gun in hand or the ability to use their gun as the initial defensive tool of choice.

Learning gun retention is important for two big reasons. One, if your assailant takes away your firearm you are left without your biggest weapon. Two, if they didn’t have a gun before, they do now, and can use it against you.

Having a gun without knowing how to properly retain it is a potential danger, so we strongly encourage you to take this 1-day course so you are better equipped in the event of an assault.

• The factors of hand-to-hand defense and fighting your way to your gun
• How to defend your gun against someone making a play for it
• Other tools of advantage you can use to get to your gun (tactical pen, keys, pepper spray, etc)
