Long History

Professor Kenneth R. Haslam has been involved in martial studies since 1960. As a boy, he studied Judo and Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Later, he trained and received his black belts in Kajukenbo, American Kenpo, and Kendo, and teacher certification in Yang Style T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

In 1999, Mr. Haslam was inducted into the Filipino Martial Arts Hall of Fame as a Weapons Expert (Blade). Later, in 2000, he was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and received his 10th degree Black Belt and Professorship.

In 2013, Mr. Haslam began training in firearms. Over the last five years, Mr. Haslam obtained his California C.C.W., Arizona C.C.W., and Utah C.C.W. Mr. Haslam is a certified United States Concealed Carry Association Instructor in Concealed Carry and Home DEFENSE as well as Women’s Handgun Self-Defense Fundamentals.

Professor Haslam is also a D.O.J. Department of Justice certified firearms safety instructor, Emergency First Aid Instructor, American Red Cross Certified Instructor, Basic Handgun Safety and Shooting Skills instructor, a certified Range Safety Officer (R.S.O.), and a certified Law Level, Law Of Self-Defense Instructor as taught by Andrew Branca, author of “The Law Of Self-Defense.” 

Mr. Haslam is the author of several books, including C.A.M.P.S. Children Abduction and Molestation Prevention Skills and C.A.R.E.S. Children Action Response and Escape Skills, Psychophysiology of Fear In Performance, R.E.A.L. Realistic Experience Acquired Learning, Warriors Mind, Warriors Courage, and the 360X DEFENSE Method.

Mr. Haslam also wrote the book Compliance, Intervention, and Protection, used by Perris Union High School district, where he instructs forty-plus of their Campus Supervisors in campus security and conflict resolution, including tactics for breaking up fights when hands-on is the only choice. 

Professor Haslam is also a certified California Private Security Guard and trainer of the scientific non-lethal un-gun known as a Byrna, firing non-lethal projectiles and pepper ball projectiles for civilian use.
